Charging for School Activities

The 1988 Education Reform Act has introduced changes to the law about charging for school activities which took effect from April 1989 and which apply to Bletchingdon School.

The principle underlying the Act is that education provided by any maintained school for its registered pupils should be free if it takes place during school hours.   The school hours are from 8.45am until 12 noon and 1 o'clock until 3pm.

The Governors wish to ensure as far as possible that there should be no reduction or restriction in the provision of activities which are considered beneficial to the children's education.

The contents of this statement are based on the Oxfordshire County Council's Policy and the D.E.S. Circular 2/89.

The Governors may review this policy statement from time to time in accordance with D.E.S. requirements.
